Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to install anything?
No, to both questions. Kin runs in any modern web browser like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer (version 10 and above).
Is there a setup charge?
There is no required setup charge. However, we do offer a Set Up & Support service to help get your account up and running! We’ll consult with you on how to best utilize Kin, set up your account your company data, and support you during the rollout of Kin to your team. All of this for a one-time payment based on your team’s size. Interested? Contact us for more details.
How much does Kin cost? Is there a free plan or discounted plans?
Kin costs $5/user per month with a minimum of five users or $25/month. We don’t offer a free plan, but every account comes with a free 7-day trial. As for discounts, if you pay annually we offer a 10% discount, and if you’re a non-profit or educational organization we’ll give you up to a 15% discount. Please get in touch if you’d like to take us up on any of these offers.
What’s included in the free trial?
The free trial gives you access to everything within Kin. When you sign up, you’ll automatically have the access-level of an HR Manager, so you can see how all the features like time off, files, tasks, profile info, and more work. You can also start adding employees to see how the app works with real, human interactions.
What happens after the free trial?
Throughout your trial, we recommend you sign up for a demo of Kin. It’s the best way for us to learn about what you’re looking for, and for you to learn all the benefits of Kin! We’ll be in touch by email to check-in on you and see if you have any questions. During the 7-day trial period you can add your billing information, if Kin is the right solution for your company. Otherwise, after 7-days your account will be suspended until your billing information is added.
What payment forms do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). However, at this time we cannot accept Paypal payments, bank transfers or checks.
How do I access Kin on my tablet or mobile device?
Kin is certainly accessible on mobile and tablet devices through your web browser. However, we’ve yet to fully optimize Kin for smaller devices. Therefore, Kin works and functions like normal, but the experience on devices like an iPhone could still use some polish. We’re continuing to work on Kin, and the mobile and tablet experience is high on our list of priorities.
What are the tech requirements for using Kin?
You just need a modern web browser like Internet Explorer (10 or above), Safari, Chrome or Firefox and an internet connection. Nothing else is required.
Can I add my company logo and customize Kin?
Nope. We’ve spent a lot of time and effort to ensure the interface in Kin is accessible, legible, and intuitive for you and your employees. One of the costs of such a nice design that works for everyone is personalization for your company.
Is my company’s data secure?
We go to great lengths to ensure that your data both at-rest and in-transit is encrypted and viewable only by you and your employees. For more details on Kin’s security, please visit our Security page.
Do employees see the same info an HR Manager sees?
Employees and HR Managers see Kin in two different ways. The HR Manager has access to everyone’s info and can manage all employees. Whereas, employees can see their personal information and then limited information about their peers like: job descriptions, bios, and contact information.
