Challenge

Challenge

Our biggest problem before Kin was company holiday and PTO tracking. We have grown quickly over the past few years, and just telling someone when you would be gone wasn’t cutting it. We were also having trouble with a consistent onboarding process and tracking employee reviews.

Results

Kin has streamlined our PTO requests and tracking. It allows us to see months in advance when someone will be out of the office, which really helps us with project management.

The onboarding process for new employees is really easy now, and we are converting our review system to Kin.

But the biggest result is how Kin helps us when we build out project calendars. It’s one location where we can figure out when someone is going to be out on vacation. It also allows employees to reference company holidays and their own personal information.

As a small company (19 employees), I have to wear the proverbial "many hats" and using Kin has made me much more efficient when wearing the HR hat. I feel like I don't miss anything anymore, whether it's an employee anniversary, birthday or vacation, I'm on top of it thanks to Kin.

Challenge

I set out looking for an affordable, user friendly (both admin and employee) program that was a one-stop shop for all things HR. My focus originally was on keeping track of time off accruals and basic HR functions, which Kin provides, but have since found that one of my favorite components of Kin is the onboarding feature.

Results

Kin allows our employees to have full visibility of their earned time, request time off and keep track of their important HR files and documents. This frees me up to just manage the data instead of imputing everything myself.

With new hires, I love that I can send them an invitation to Kin ASAP before they are in the office so they can take care of all the paperwork ahead of time, and I can get a head start.

Challenge

Being a small team, we have always had our employees request time off via email. This proved to be disorganized as we grew in size and people would forget to approve time off, forget what days they requested, etc. Employees also never remembered how many days they had available for vacation. As the HR rep, I constantly had to tell people how many days they had remaining. I also had trouble keeping track of everyone’s personal information when I needed it for onboarding or off-boarding purposes.

Results

Kin has helped us with all our time off problems. Not only can managers and employees find all their data in one place, but we can track the history of a person’s time off and finally have a formalized process of requesting time off that works for us without a lot of work from us! Now employees are always aware of how many days they have remaining and how many they’ve taken. I can now have everyone’s information in one place when I’m dealing with benefits paperwork, and on/off-boarding are a breeze now with file attachments, profiles, etc!

When you’re a small team everyone wears multiple hats. The last hat anyone wants to put on is the one that involves approving and tracking vacation time. Like many other small companies, we were collecting time-off requests via email and scheduling on a shared calendar. As our team grew to 15 and business increased, various time-off policies came into effect. Organizing emails and scheduling a shared calendar became more and more time consuming. Convinced that there was a better way, I searched online for a solution.

Results

The integration of Kin at FLIPP was as much a relief for the entire team as it was for me. It allowed for timely replies to vacation requests and an easily accessible company events calendar for planning. In addition to solving our vacation request process, Kin also provided an organized hub for onboarding tasks, employee information, and company forms and contracts.

The Kin team, headed up by Craig Bryant, has been incredibly receptive to our feedback, both positive and negative, which has been fantastic. We suggested a calendar integration piece for PTO and a month later it was available! That is incredibly rare when you are used to dealing with oversize software providers who have 1-2 release cycles in a whole year.

Challenge

Time off and vacation tracking, shareable personal information and HR document distribution were three of our biggest problems. We had a custom built but half-baked tool for vacation tracking, used Google Docs for employee contact info, and simply shared HR documents via email…our system wasn’t cutting it.

Results

Kin’s PTO flexibility tools have really helped us in terms of both employee submission of PTO, tracking of long-term PTO and earned time. We started out using just a basic earned time vacation program and have now added things like tracking conference days, work-from-home days and short periods of time off.

The information sharing has also allowed our team to quickly find details of their coworkers in a pinch.

HR documents have become much more clear and easy to distribute, which has completely changed the way that we onboard new team members.

Kin is actually creating processes for us that weren’t well defined before. Onboarding is becoming more clear, roles between our managing partners and HR coordinator are easier understood.
